OOC: So will we be changing the topic position (making a new one in Keshtan's area?0
BIC: Laurenana laughed and spun around. Demon wings flew differently to bird wings. Whilst bird wings could ride the thermals and hover neatly, Demon wings were used for speed and acrobatics, as they were designed for warriors. She let keshtan get a fair distance away before nodding politely to Kaji. "Thanks" She said.
Folding her wings, she plummeted into the canyon. Pulling up just short of the base, she beat her wings and rocketed along the canyon. She could fly faster than Keshtan, but not further. Twisting and turning, she weaved in and out of the boulders, flying dangerously close to them. As she reached underneath Keshtan she flicked her wings and with a quick beat she rose up to him, rolling out of her rise just beneath him.
Laughing her burning red eyes looked up at him. "Keshtan what are you flying so slowly for?" Laurenana felt a little weird. Probably more mutations developing. That happened to some people. Laurenana hoped it was a tail, she wanted a tail.
Folding her wings, she dropped down again. Flying up high just wasn't her thing. The adrenaline addicted girl preferred to risk her life zipping between rocks.
(ooc: Yea we could when trhey get there. That way it wouldn't be as confuzing, 'cos you'd be posting about his land, like you're in it, but not in it, if you get my meaning. I just think it would be easier, but we could carry on here for a bit longer, for like the journey at least).
ic:
I'm not flying, I'm cruising. There's a difference you know, he called down to her as she went back down earthwards. I bet she thinks that she's looking clever doing all those stunts by the rocks he thought. He preferred just flying fest and doing his stunts higher up, where it was easier in some ways but harder in others, because the air was thinner. He could still breathe in the thin air, but after a while he got tired quicker than normal. That didn't often stop him though, he still loved flying at altitude, and seeing miles upon miles of the earth stretching out below him like the maps of old was just something else.
So she wants to show off. If she thinks I'm going slow, I'll just show her what feathers can do. Taking one last lungful of warm air out from the thermal, he pushed forwards out of the air current. One thing about having big bird wings, they are relatively acrobatic, can catch thermals, use relatively little energy, can fly fast, but are crap at accelerating at any speed. Anyhow, he had son built up a good speed, and started to ascent to a greater height, where he could fly a little faster. He was going really fast now, not quite top yet, but getting there, when he leveled up. The canyon was just like a piece of ribbon now, snaking across the dry, dusty terra, while the dark dot that was Laurenana zipped about inside it. He was probably doing close to 900 miles per hour now at this height, yet he could go way higher. There was no point calling down to her, as she was unlikely to hear him, let alone understand him. So he just sped on ahead until she was quite a way behind.
Coming to the part he loved the most: The descent, or more precisely, the plummet earthwards at incredible speeds that would shatter the eardrums of nearly all. So, down he went. Down, down, faster and faster until he reached terminal velocity, he knew not how fast, towards the canyon. About several hundred metres from the ground he gently started to stretch out his wings; Snapping them out now would snap them off. Reaching ground level, still about a hundred feet or so above the base of the canyon, he suddenly pulled up, having slowed quite a bit now, performing his oh-so-favourite corkscrew/barrel roll manouver, straightening out level to follow the canyon along. He was still going fairly fast, and looked over his shoulder, looking for Laurenana, but the canyon was quite bendy, so he couldn't see very far.

Laurenana's burning eyes fixed upon the fading dot that was Keshtan. As it became larger, Laurenana's eyes widened. He was dropping like a stone. Laurenana had no concerns for him, he could fly. Keshtan was probably showing off.
As he fell, Laurenana flicked her wings up and flew along the lip of the canyon instead of weaving between the boulders. She watched as Keshtan recovered from his dive into a roll. She laughed and flicked her wings to catch him, circling him and pulling up just in front him, as he was glancing behind him
"I thought you were leading?" She laughed before ducking to avoid a collision if Keshtan didn't pull up enough.
He jumped a little as Laurenana came up behind him, he hadn't seen her further up the canyon. So who were you calling slow then? he said slightly cajolingly. And I'm still leading the way. Its further on, up to where the canyon bends East, over the corner of the plains beyond, and its the valley of the major river you see there. I could even see the river from up there, he said, indicating upwards with his hand. Actually, there's the bend, he pointed further up, then tilted himself up, coming out above the lip of the canyon. the land was getting a bit greener now, not as red and dusty as it was before.

Laurenana beat her wings and rose to beside Keshtan. Nice place She whispered. It took effort for her to rise but shhe flew quicker at this level than Kehstan. She focussed on pacing herself to stay with her tour guide.
Breathing in deeply, the fresher, cleaner air of the grass soothed her lungs. Opening her burning red eyes, she gently turned to follow the canyon, dipping her wing low enough to just graze the ground. Laughing, she beat her bat wings and rose. She reached out with a hand to grab Keshtan's so that he might be able to raise her up to the thinner air.
He was a little confused when she grabbed his arm, and held on. What the hell was she doig? then he looked and saw that she was going upwards, and also that she wasn't finding it too easy. Her wings were probably better at speed and flitting about in between rocks than his were, but he sure as hell found flying at height and performing acrobatics much easier up higher than she did. Suddenly he understood, she wanted him to help her up perhaps, if she did find it that difficult. But it was easy, why did she find it so hard? Even with bat wings she should be able to bare it, though they were perhaps not designed for high flying like his were. Need a lift? he said in a jokey sort of way, grabbing her arm as well so tat they aware holding each others, that way they would have a better more secure hold.
As he started up, he almost gasped, she was so light! Maybe that was just because they were both in the air, and both were flying, so it was not like he was carrying her exactly. Something strange stirred inside him then. He hadn't felt it before, and he felt confused, which he didn't like too much, but though the feeling as new, it wasn't altogether unpleasant. Looking down at Laurenana, he pulled her up with his arm to his kind of height, looking into her strange red eyes as she leveled up with him. That feeling was still there, as he thought again how pretty she actually was underneath all those dark appearances. He decided that he liked her, despite all the demon like appearances and guises. Underneath he saw the beginnings of a nice person there.
See? Thats the valley right over there, on the horizon, he said to her when they were just about high enough for him to see it. But then, not being part bird, she maybe didn't have the raptor vision that he did, ad maybe couldn't see it that far away. He pointed with his left hand anyway. If she couldn't see it now she would be able to soon, flying high meant you got places faster than flying lower, so from up here it wouldn't take them that long to get there.

Laurenana beat her wings to help Keshtan raise her. She was smiling softly for once. She loved flying up high. It was a shame that demon wings were not made for travelling, move for fighting. She could see that he didn't understand, but she'd explain later.
Her red eyes weren't like an eagle's, but she wasn't too bad. When Keshtan pointed out the valley she squinted and could just make it out. Still gripping onto his hand, she stopped beating her bat wings and glided. It was the first time she had glided and it felt good. Laughing, she turned back to Keshtan and smiled.
She felt something. It was hard to explain. Laurenana was a little confused with it. She had been brought up with hardship and fighting, yelling and screaming. Sacrifices and blood. But this feeling was the ultimate contradiction of it. It was soft, gentle like a river. It was free like a bird and calming like the ocean. Laurenana couldn't understand it, this feeling confused her.
She looked into his eyes and looked away quickly and shyly. He wouldn't feel the same. She was dark and twisted, he was graceful and handsome.
Suddenly, it occurred to Laurenana. She was in love. She had never been loved. It frightened her to be in love. He wouldn't love her back. It pained her too feel this way about someone. Perhaps it showed in her eyes. She turned away from him and let go of his hand.
She flew away sideways from him. It hurt a bit to fly at this altitude but she wanted to stay up here. She flew alone towards the valley her mind running a mile a minute.
He had no idea what was going on, inside him and beside him, for Laurenana had pulled away, looking somehow guilty. What had he done wrong? maybe it was his poor people skills showing again, in that he had maybe done something that he had thought totally normal that she had somehow found offensive. But then why would she be looking guilty, she had started snarling at him earlier last time he had offended her? He was confused, totally and utterly. Yet when she had pulled away, there was another feeling pulling at him from within his chest, something totally contradictory to the other as they both raged inside him, and it hurt. Not a physical pain, which perhaps he found the most confusing, but it was like something had ripped at him, emotionally. He felt hopeless. He liked her, definitely, he had felt so good when she was near, felt like he was on top of the world with just the two of them up here, holding hands, yet suddenly, with one move from her, that had all come crashing to the ground. Maybe he could make it up to her? He now knew that getting angry himself did them no good, so maybe gentler would help?
Gently he angled his flight so that he came up above her, beating his wings only enough so that he could stay there, without anymore than brushing the girl below him. Laurenana... what's wrong? He was generally concerned, and sounded it too. He really wanted to make up for whatever he must have done. He wanted to know how to be better, to learn from her what he had had so little time to learn from his parents... how to live.

Laurenana was looking away when she felt feathers brush against her sore and tired wings. her heart ached to tell him how she felt but her mind thought of her appearance and scared her ideas of love away.
His soft voice floated through the silence like a feather through the air. She sighed softly, her mind enveloped with emotion. Her burning red eyes closed slightly and a small tear ran down her face, following the line of her scar.
"Keshtan...you have done nothing" She whispered her voice cracking as she held back tears. "It is something...that I don't" Her heart raced, its beat pounding in her ears.
Before she could stop herself, she blurted it out. "Keshtan, I love you." It echoed in the canyon below. Laurenana couldn't stop herself. "But why should you love me, a twisted mutant, back?"
He was taken aback. So much so that he almost stopped using his wings, and so fell back a little behind Laurenana, but brought himself back and above her again, a little higher this time. Love? Somewhere from the back of his mind something was stirring, coming back to life after its long isolation. Love. He had heard of such a thing before. Was that what he was feeling now, that great burning in his chest that was causing his heart so much confusion. It was coming back to him now. His parents, when he was but three, teaching him still, still there, together. They said that love was the greatest feeling of them all, the greatest healer, what brought people together. They had loved each other, and were happy... for a time. Love? That mere feeling that had torn his family apart a mere two years on, the greatest destroyer, that tore peoples hearts apart. In his mind he silently chuckled bitterly. Love was fickle, two faced. Yet he was sure what he was feeling now was love. He too loved Laurenana, he finally admitted it to himself.
Laurenana, I... I don't know what to say. You're not twisted, you're not evil, and there isn't a creature alive on Earth that is not a mutant. Thats what makes us all so special. And you're special... To me.
They hit a well timed thermal then. Not having to flap now, he glided down so he was practically on top of her now, he could feel the heat of her body below his. Gently he put his right hand on her shoulder, leaned down and kissed her lightly on the left cheek. He didn't know why he had done that, it had seemed so natural, seemed the right thing to do. He had seen his parents do it when he was young, when they were happy together. No, he would never let this go the same way they had. If this worked, he would never let it come to that.

Laurenana felt the warm air hit her and it gave her a rush. She felt Keshtan glide over her. His words had made her heart flutter like the wings of a butterfly. Her mouth was dry and her palms were sweaty. Swallowing hard she felt the soft touch of Keshtan's lips on her cheek. It was sweet, it was sincere. Laurenana blushed, her cheeks turning the softest crimson.
Rolling onto her back, she grabbed out for Keshtan and embraced him. She could feel his warm body as they flew together as one. She leaned back her head, her black hair flowing like a river, and laughed. her red eyes locked into Keshtan's and she smiled.
Reaching up she kissed Kehstan on the lips. It was gentle but full of passion. It said everything about her, about what she was feeling. She let her violent past and her tortured soul speak through the kiss. When she finished, she pulled her head back and looked deep into his eyes. Had she done the wrong thing? Her eyes flickered from one part of his face to another trying to get an answer.
He was pleasantly surprised when she flipped over and put her arms about his neck. She was not heavy, as she was flying on her back and half hanging off of him now, so he had no trouble on the thermal keeping her up. He felt her lips on his, she was kissing him back. He leant into it, following her down into the kiss. This just felt right for some reason, he was putting all his heart into this, and he could tell that she was too. He could somehow feel all her emotions being poured into him, all the harshness and strife of her childhood and until now.
She pulled away, yet this time there was no rip inside him, it was alright now. He met her eyes. In them was an unspoken question: Right or not? He could see her searching him for the answer, and he just smiled. Oh yes, this was right all right. Then he laughed, not unkindly, but rather he laughed with her, to her, not at her or at anything, it was a laugh of joy. He had never felt like this in all his life. Slowly he snaked his arms around her shoulders, holding her gently close to him as they glided towards his home.

Laurenana looked into Keshtan's eyes and saw she had done right. The kiss felt perfect, passionate and caring at the same time. As Keshtan's embraced her she sighed softly and closed her eyes, falling into a deep sleep. It was still daytime, but she was so comfortable and relaxed in Keshtan's arms that she couldn't help herself.
When she opened her eyes they were still flying but she could smell water. Looking below her she could see a shallow river winding below, not far below. They must have drifted down whilst she was sleeping. Reaching up and kissing him on the cheek she rolled out of his arms to fly by herself, next to him. As she weaved between the boulders she laughed. This was home, she coudl feel it.
